Olympic Coloring

Today was a great day at work. The kids and I talked about the Winter Olympics. I had a bunch of souvenirs and fun memories to share with them about the Salt Lake Winter Olympics and we were all pretty excited about the upcoming games in Vancouver. We talked about the opening ceremonies that will take place Friday night and it was so cute to see how interested they all were. I showed the kids the different Olympic themed works that they could choose and they all set off to work. Garion chose an Olympic torch hat and quietly started coloring, cutting, and pasting. When he finished he came over to show me his work. Garion was out of breath and seriously sweating. I looked at him and said, "Wow, Garion, are you all right?" Panting, he replied, "No, Mrs. Bergstrom! I worked so hard on my hat that I have the coloring sweats!" I've heard of the meat sweats, but I have never seen anyone get drenched from simple coloring. I guess there's a first for everything.

Check out the Belly on THAT Girl!

Danny told me to choose a pose that was not the standard two hands on the belly-I'm pregnant pose. I guess I really don't need to put two hands on my belly to make anyone notice that I am with child. I feel like a zit that is begging to be popped.
I am currently ripe at 34 weeks and on the count down to push-this-baby-out day. I can't wait. I keep telling myself not to feel this way. To enjoy every moment of this pregnancy, but I am so excited to hold our little boy and see his face, that it is easy to drift into hurry things along mode.
My belly has become the entertainment at school. Every Tuesday when I return from my long weekend, the kids marvel at how much my stomach has grown in the last four days. The preschool children, who are belly height, stare with wide eyes in amazement at this mysterious growth I have budding under my clothes. And names....oh the subject of names! Danny and I have chosen his name, but after testing it out on my Grandma Rawson...who's reaction was priceless...it has made us think twice about sharing it with anyone until he is actually here and bestowed with said name. But since I know all of you will be much more gracious than my Grandma, (or you'll just keep your "What the hell's" to yourselves) I will bravely announce that we are going to name our son Tucker William. William is after my Dad, who was very excited that we were naming Tucker after him. He even suggested we could call him T.W. So, as I sit here continuing to grow, I look forward to all of you meeting our little boy and hope for a good birth for Tucker! Wish me luck!

The Train Show!

As many of you know, we have a little boy who is completely and madly in love with trains.
Thanksgiving point hosted a train show, and we had to go. Here is Jesse checking out the Hogwarts express!
Jesse loved all the tracks and was talking to all the old men setting up their collections. Our Family! (James looks excited!)

We ran into Danny's brother Jeff and his boys, Will and Drew. The boys were so excited. The four of them stood at the Lego train, pointing out all the "cool" details to each other for about a half hour. It was definitely a fun night.

Our new Little Friend...

Over the Christmas break, we acquired a new reptile friend. Her name is Lilly. We adopted her from my boss, Lori, who lives in a cabin up above Park City. In order for Bearded Dragons to grow, they have to have adequate heat, and Lori was concerned that living in a cabin where the power goes out constantly, was not a great environment for Lilly. Luckily, James has been wanting to have his own pet that he is responsible for, so I brought Lilly home one night and surprised him. He has been so cute with her. Lilly has a spunky personality...she presses her body up against the glass when you walk by her aquarium, as if to say, "who's coming to get me?!" She is also a great eater, and we don't have to hand feed her like we do with Lizzy. Our house just keeps getting fuller...doesn't it?!

The Christmas Season

This year, James' 2nd grade class made and donated a tree to the Festival of Trees. His teacher is a runner, and he has been focusing on exercise and good health with the kids, so they decided the theme of their tree should be "The Human Race". James was so excited to go see it all put together, although the look on his face in this picture doesn't scream excitement. Danny was the overseer of the project (I lovingly call him the room-mom) and he took a lot of time to get things taken care of.

Our annual Bill's Christmas party was a lot of fun. Everyone in my Grandma Cardwell's family comes, and it's really fun to see all of my great cousins. Santa comes and the kids get to sit on his lap and recieve a gift. Carly, Easton, and James are little buds and they wanted their picture taken together!

Danny and I decided for the major part of the boys Christmas that we would surprise them with an overnight trip up at the beautiful Homestead Resort in Midway, Utah. Little did we know that we would pick the weekend of a huge snow storm. We're talking three feet of new snow. When we looked out our window the next morning, they hadn't shoveled the walks and the snow went almost 1/4 of the height of the door! Danny had to help push a Honda out of the parking lot. I was really grateful that we had a 4 wheel drive. Here is our trusty Explorer (we like to call it the Exploder for fun) buried in all the new snow. A pain in the butt, but oh so beautiful! The boys had a blast!

We took some pictures on our patio...you can't tell in the pics, but it was snowing. We saw a family of deer out in the pine trees just beyond our little cottage. Later, we took the kids over to the dining room for dinner. They sat us by the fire place, and the boys enjoyed their first "fancy dinner". As we were walking to dinner James asked me if this was where the rich and famous go. I had to laugh about that...it's funny to hear how your kids perceive different experiences.

My Boys!

After dinner, we took the boys for a late night swim. The pools at the Homestead are heated naturally by a spring that is on the property. The kids thought it was great to swim in hot water. I wish I could have joined them, but the pictures would have scared everyone....I only have bikinis, and they look slightly inappropriate right now....I've grown in many places! My favorite part of the trip came at the end. We took our desserts back to our cottage and watched Kung Fu Panda and ate pumpkin cheesecake and chocolate bread pudding. We all had a great time, and James wants to go back next year! It was definitely a great surprise for the boys.

A New Spin on an Old Classic...

The other day at school, I was working with a group of kids on adding doubles. After the lesson, I passed them all out a worksheet to do, and told them that when they were done, they needed to come show me so that I could correct it and go over it with each of them. This sweet little boy Aidan finished and we went over his paper. After going over a few missed facts, I told him to pick a sticker to go on his paper. He looked at the sticker sheet, and started to chant, "Eeny, meeny, miney, moe. Catch the tiger by his toe. If he hollers let him go. Eeny, meeny, miney, moe. To-be-the-best-mom-say-NO-MORE-VIDEO-GAMES! and you are it with a very dirty dish rag on your big, fat, stinky toe!"
